BU Women's Soccer Opens With Win

MANSFIELD -- The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team opened its 2008 season with a 3-1 win at Mansfield.

Senior Ashley Brucker (Blairstown, NJ/North Warren) scored just three minutes into the game to put the Huskies in front 1-0. Bloomsburg added another goal five minutes later when the ball went off a Mansfield defender into the Mountaineer goal giving BU a 2-0 edge. In 27th minute of play Bloomsburg made it 3-0 on a goal by Ali McCrossin (Philadelphia/Little Flower).

Mansfield tallied a second half, but that would be all for the home team.

Francis Nicoletti (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield) had two saves for Bloomsburg.

The Huskies, 1-0, 1-0 in the PSAC East, play at home Saturday against Shippensburg at 1 p.m.
